Jenifer Cameron currently teaches as an Elementary Art Specialist for all 19 elementary schools in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. Teaching thorough a unique model of imbedded professional development, Jenifer has had the opportunity to engage students in art lessons along with their teachers for last 12 years. She began her journey in education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks first as an art student and then earning a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Elementary Art. Prior to teaching in Fairbanks, she had the opportunity of teaching in rural Alaska, in St. Mary’s and Wrangell where her experiences became the inspiration for her work as a studio artist. Jenifer has been a teacher leader in 3 prior Visual Art and 1 Basic Arts Institutes in Fairbanks and various other workshops around the state focusing on integrating art education into the classroom. She was honored as the Elementary Art Teacher of the Year for 2009 form the Alaska Art Educators Association. She has been living in Alaska for 32 years and enjoys exploring all the landscapes Alaska has to offer. She looks forward to engaging participants in meaningful art making and writing.
