Drama Teaching Artist.  Donna taught elementary school for eleven years in Wasilla and Juneau. In 1984, she became Juneau/Douglas High School’s first full time drama teacher, where she developed curriculum, directed competition acting, play productions and a showcase of original skits called STORIES NEVER TOLD. Donna retired from teaching in Alaska in 1996 and became the Director of Drama Education for Maui Academy of Performing Arts until 2005.  There she developed an educational program and trained drama specialists to teach in the VOICES program–modeling how to improve reading comprehension skills through drama for grades K-5.  She now has her own business “READ WITH H’ART” doing the same thing in Alaska.  Donna works part-time teaching readers theatre and art at Burchell, an alternative high school in Wasilla, Alaska.  She has been a mentoring “teaching artist” and has offered numerous professional development workshops in drama through the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, Maui Academy of Performing Arts and Alaska Arts Education Consortium.
