Teachers from the North Slope and Nome School DIstricts were immersed into the Inupiaq cultural arts in May.  They learned about the history through lectures and storytelling while they sewed with Aana Lane, carved with Steve Oomituk and danced with Fanny Akpik.  Mid-week a whale was landed and much of the group spent much of the beautiful night on the ice helping pull in the whale, eating muktuk, marveling at the entirety of this cultural experience under a startlingly clear blue sky.
The people of Point Hope were welcomed us and allowed us to partake evening. Â We thank them all.
