Call for Teacher Leaders
Place-Based Learning & the Arts Institute – Kodiak, Alaska
June 8–12, 2026
The Alaska Arts Education Consortium (AAEC) will host a Place-Based Learning & the Arts Institute in Kodiak, Alaska, June 8–12, 2026, and we are seeking Teacher Leader applicants to help design and facilitate this powerful professional learning experience for Alaskan educators.
Teacher Leaders will:
- Work as part of a collaborative team of Teacher Leaders, including a designated Lead Teacher Leader.
- Plan and facilitate sessions that model high-quality, arts-integrated, place-based instruction grounded in local culture, community, and environment.
- Support participants in making concrete plans to bring place, culture, and the arts into their own classrooms and schools.
- Participate in several virtual planning meetings in the months leading up to the Institute.
This year, we are using a Google Form for the application process.

December 5, 2025 – January 31, 2026

We encourage applications from educators across Alaska, including those with experience in rural and remote settings, arts integration, and culturally responsive teaching.
